Ward Veneman, 64, Died Last Night After Long Illness
Ward Veneman, 64, passed away at his home, 203 West Ninth Street South, at 8 o’clock Tuesday evening following an extended illness.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. William Veneman, he was born Feb. 18, 1883, at Maxwell, Ia., on June 1, 1939, he was united in marriage to Miss Lenora Mallory in Cedar Rapids. They moved to Newton about six years ago where Mr. Veneman was engaged as a typewriter salesman.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a brother, N. J. Veneman of Scranton, Ia., and sister, Mrs. E. K. Cole of Centralia, Mo., and four nieces and six nephews.
He was a member of the First Methodist Church from which final rites will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, with Rev. E. A. Briggs officiating. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery with the Masonic Lodge in charge of the services at the grave.
Mrs. Ross Masters, Mrs. Jack Grosvenor and Mrs. Gerald Miller will be in charge of floral tributes.
Pallbearers will be Gerald Miller, Ross Masters, Jack Grosvenor, Joe Good, Fred Iske and Charles Good. ~ Newspaper name and date unknown.
