Helen Marie Jess Kleinendorst, 70, of Rt. 3, Box 50, Newton, a lifelong resident of Jasper County, died Sunday morning, Oct. 13, at her home of cancer.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Community Heights Alliance Church.
The Rev. David Presher, pastor of the church, and the Rev. Bill Adams, associate pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.
Friends may call after 8 a.m. Tuesday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials to Hospice of Jasper County will be accepted.
Survivors are her husband, Lynn A.; a son, Warren Arthur of Boone; two daughters, Margaret Jean Weuve of Colo and Barbara Lynn Hoover of Carlisle; four grandchildren (Sherri Weuve Hunt, Craig Weuve, Sarah Hoover, and Joel Hoover); three great-grandchildren; a brother, Lawrence R. Jess of Madrid; and a sister, Mary Louise Elscott of Iowa City.
She was preceeded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Kleinendorst, a homemaker, was a member of the Community Heights Alliance Church, 50-50 Fellowship and the Jasper County Farm Bureau.
The daughter of John Peter and Trina Margaret DeKoning Jess, she was born Dec. 14, 1920 south of Newton and was graduated from Grinnell Community High School in 1939. She had been a teacher's normal training course student.
She was married to Lynn Arthur Kleinendorst Feb. 22, 1942 in Nevada, MO.
She had lived on the same farm since 1942.
