Tim C. Nelson, 61, of Newton died on Wednesday, May 11, 2011, in an auto accident on Interstate 80 in Jasper County.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 16, at the First United Methodist Church, 210 N. Second Ave. E. in Newton.
The family will greet friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 15, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home, 1115 E. 19th St. N. in Newton.
Memorials to the Jasper County Honor Flight may be left at the church on the morning of the service or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Mary in Newton; son, Craig (Nicole) Nelson of Newton; step-son, Justin Van Weelden of Knoxville; his granddaughter, Reeva Nelson of Newton; brother, Mike (Lynette) Nelson of Altoona; his mother-in-law, Lyn Godby of Indianola; uncle, Fred (Marge) Nelson of Newton; and aunt, Roberta Jones of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John David “Dave” and Betty May (Whittaker) Nelson.

Tim C. Nelson was born October 19, 1949.
Tim served his country in the U. S. Navy during Vietnam War. Tim was a graduate of Newton High School in 1967.
Tim was a Job Supervisor for the Flooring Gallery in Urbandale. He and his brother, Mike had owned and operated Carpets Unlimited. He was a member of Newton Elks Lodge No. 1270, and H.O.G. Tim loved to ride his Harley with his wife, Mary and friends. He enjoyed traveling, and just being with his family and friends.
