Thalia (Arndt) Baldwin, 83, of Galesburg, Ill., formerly of Newton and a 1946 graduate of Newton Senior High School, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011.

Mrs. Thalia E. Baldwin, 83, of 145 Circle Dr., Galesburg, Ill. died at 8:27 a.m., Wednesday February 16, 2011 in Seminary Manor.
She was born December 22, 1927 in Sioux City, Iowa the daughter of Ernest A. and Carolyn A. Cline Arndt. She married William C. Baldwin in Nashua, Iowa on September 16, 1950. He preceded her in death in 1984.
She is survived by two sons, William Todd Baldwin of Henderson, Ill. and Steven Michael Baldwin of Galesburg, a grandson, Chase Baldwin and one sister, Madeline Kendall of Newton, Iowa. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest A. Arndt in 1945 and Carolyn in 1983, two sisters, Norene Jamison in 1980 and Nannette Brock in 2010 and two brothers, Ted Arndt in 1975 and Ernest A. Arndt, Jr. in 1980.
Thalia worked for the Maytag Dairy Farm in Newton, Iowa before moving to Galesburg in 1973. In Galesburg she worked for Nyman Jewelers and the Top Drawer. She graduated from high school in Newton, Iowa in 1945 and was the first Homecoming Queen. She attended Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa. She was of the Methodist faith.
Memorial services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Melva England will officiate. Visitation will be 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2011 at the chapel. Cremation will be accorded. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.
