Died, at the home of his son, E. H. Bryan, June 4, George Bryan.

Mr. Bryan was born in Scott County, Kentucky, in 1818. He moved to Iowa in 1868 and settled on a farm near Prairie City, where he has spent the most of his life since, till in November, he went to Bentonville, Arkansas to visit his children.

In January he took sick and grew worse till the final summons came June 4th, at the advanced age of 77 years and 9 months.

For 21 years he was county clerk and 7 years cashier in a bank.

His wife, the mother of his large family, preceded him several years ago to the land beyond. Of his family of eleven children, nine survive him. The remains accompanied by his son, E. H. Bryan, arrived Saturday morning.

The funeral was at the Christian Church, Rev. Moore conducting the service, assisted by both the other ministers of the city. ~ The Newton Record, Friday, June 12, 1896, Page 10, Column 3 – Prairie City
