Additional information from Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home website:
Henry Charles Bruxvoort, the third of seven children was born to Clarence and Minerva Jansen Bruxvoort on March 25, 1947, in Newton, Iowa. When Henry was a young boy the family moved to the Maasdam Sorghum Farm near Sully, Iowa where he attended the Sully Schools. In the early 1960’ s the family moved to the Schakel Dairy Farm near New Sharon, Iowa.
Henry was employed by his father and Reuben Schakel on the dairy farm and attended North Mahaska School. He graduated from Pella Christian High School in Pella, Iowa with the Class of 1965. Henry fulfilled his military obligation serving in the Armed Forces of the United States Army from 1966 until 1972. He continued working on the Schakel farm until the farm was sold in 1970.
On December 28, 1966, during a blizzard, Henry and Nancine Lois De Bruin were united in marriage and they were blessed with two children: Julia Rae and James Michael. They settled on a farm southwest of New Sharon, Iowa and Henry began his association and employment with Van Gorp Corporation at Pella, Iowa in 1970. He continued working there and was a Regional Sales Manager while he was still actively engaged in farming. Henry’s passions were playing golf, cutting firewood, and his John Deere tractors. His greatest joy was to be with his grandchildren and he regularly attended their activities. He created “the annual golf ball hunt” held every Easter. He always arrived with candy or Dutch pastries and believed that dessert should be enjoyed daily and in large quantities. Henry’s smile was rooted deep in his heart and the twinkle in his eye communicated his playful attitude. He loved to initiate practical jokes with the entire family, at work, and even in the hospital. He enjoyed a family trip to Disneyworld as much as the grandkids did.
Henry was a member of the Peoria Christian Reformed Church in Peoria, Iowa. In December of 2009 Henry was diagnosed with lymphoma and underwent a stem cell transplant in November of 2010. Henry maintained a very positive outlook about his health and was lovingly cared for by his family and his friends during this time. He was the eternal optimist, never believing he was sick or wanting anyone to think he was sick. During his illness it was obvious that the Lord was his Rock, his Fortress and his Deliverer. Henry passed away late Wednesday evening, March 23, 2011, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 63 years. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Henry is survived by his wife, Nancine, two children and six grandchildren: Julia and Joel Veenstra and their children: Jessa Rae, Luke Thomas and Grant Thomas of Des Moines, Iowa; James and Kathy Bruxvoort and their children: Karli Marie, Jacob Ryan and Jared Michael of Pella, Iowa. Henry’s memory is honored by his sisters and brother and their spouses: Betty and Geoff Horvath of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Roger and Marlene Bruxvoort of Reasnor, Iowa; Marilyn and Bruce Bandstra of Pella, Iowa; Linda and Wade Dawley of New Sharon, Iowa; and the following brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Robert and Lois Van Houweling of Pella; Keith and Gloria De Bruin of Oskaloosa, Iowa; Susan (De Bruin) and Bruce Bandstra of Carlton, Oregon; Bonnie (De Bruin) and Randy Deur of Pella; Dale and Nancy De Bruin of Oskaloosa; Alice De Bruin of Bellflower, California; Jayne (De Bruin) and Kelly Tien of Long Beach, California; Duane and Linda Jansen of Golden,Colorado; along with many nieces and nephews and their families.

De Bruin in 2005; a sister-in-law, Karen (De Bruin) Jansen in 2005; and a nephew, Chip Ybema in 1997.
