Two Victims of Whooping Cough

The home of Mr. and Mrs. Camp. Rexroat, home miles south of town, has been terribly afflicted this week. Their two children – all they had – a little girl a year and a half old, and a 3-month-old son, died of whopping cough – one at nine o’clock Tuesday evening and the other at seven o’clock the following morning. It is a sad blow to the parents, and their grief is almost more than they can bear. The funeral was held at Palo Alto U. P. Church at 1 o’clock Thursday, and the little bodies laid to rest in the cemetery near by. ~ The Newton Record, Friday, February 28, 1896, Page 1, Column 2
