Brantner, Florence Bohne – 1906–1986

Florence Brantner, 79, of 616 E. 3rd St. S., a longtime resident of Jasper county, died Wednesday evening, July 30, at the Skiff Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church.
Dr. Richard Bentzinger, pastor of the church, and the Rev. Steve Williams will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home after noon Friday. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials to the First United Methodist Church or the Jasper County Senior Citizens Center may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are a daughter, Janice (Mrs. Dale) Hartgraves of Newton; her mother, Dorothea (Mrs. Henry J.) Bohne Sr. of Rt. 5, Newton, a brother, Richard Bohne of Rt. 5, Newton; four sisters, Marie Bohne of Rt. 5, Newton, Sophie (Mrs. Denver) Byal of Mingo and Elsie (Mrs. Willard) Loper and Rosie (Mrs. Fred) Moore, both of Newton; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her father, husband, Marion, Aug. 1, 1984, a brother, Henry Bohne Jr., and a brother, Robert, in infancy.
Mrs. Brantner, a member of the First United Methodist Church, Jasper County Senior Citizens, Laf-A-Lot Club and Newton Women’s Club, had been a clerk for many years at the Newton Younkers Store.

The daughter of Henry John and Dorothea Carolyn Hoerling Bohne, she was born Sept. 20, 1906 in Chehalis, Wash.

She was married to Marion W. Brantner Oct. 4, 1935 in Newton. ~ Source: Newton Daily News; Thursday, July 31, 1986
