Caroline Wilhemenia Schnathorst, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schnathorst, was born June 24, 1850, in Germany, coming to this country with her parents when a child of eight years. The family settled in Wisconsin, later coming to Iowa in 1878. She was married soon afterwards to Henry Bohne and they settled on a farm six miles north of Newton, where she had lived until her death, which resulted from influenza and pneumonia. She was 77 years old. She had been a member of the Lutheran church since early girlhood.
Mrs. Bohne is survived by her husband and nine children, seven sons, August, John, Will, Fred, Henry, Herman and Charles Bohne of Newton and two daughters, Mrs. Ray McQuiston of Newton and Miss Mary Bohne at home. One daughter, Lena preceded the mother in death.
She is also survived by one brother, Henry Schnathorst of Newton, one sister, Miss Anna Myers of San Francisco, Calif., and seven grandchildren, Marie, Florence, Sophie, Elsie, Rosie, Henry and Richard Bohne, all of Newton.
