Guthrie, Nannie
Mingo – Died at her home in this place, Jan. 2, 1896, Mrs. Nannie Guthrie, aged 36 years, after long, weary years and months of suffering with that dread disease consumption.
This estimable wife and mother is at rest; she bore her terrible sufferings without a murmur and often expressed a desire to depart and be with her Savior. Death to her was a welcome messenger, bringing sweet release from her intense suffering. She was a good woman, a kind and affectionate mother, a faithful and devoted wife.
She leaves a husband and son, and her aged parents and other relatives to mourn her untimely death. The funeral was held in the M. E. Church at this place last Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock, Rev. Lampman officiating; the interment was at the McKeever Cemetery. ~ The Newton (IA) Record, Part Two, Friday, January 10, 1896, Page 4, Column 3
