A. J. Clutter a few days ago received the sad intelligence of the death of his venerable father, James Clutter, which occurred at Lock, Ohio, at midnight of Tuesday, January 28th. Father Clutter’s age was eighty-nine years and four months, and he died on the farm where he had lived since 1812, when a boy but seven years of age. His son, Trube Clutter, of this vicinity, was at his father’s bedside during his final illness and at the time of his death. ~ The Newton Record, Newton, IA, Friday, February 7, 1896 Page 5, Column 2
