Marjorie Cox, 85, of Omaha, Neb., formerly of Newton died Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, at her home in Omaha, Neb.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, at Newton Union Cemetery in Newton with Pastor Audrey Young of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church officiating.
Memorials in Marjorie’s name may be left at the funeral home. Wallace Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Newton is in charge of arrangements.
The daughter of Burleigh and Opal (McMains) Hall, Marjorie was born March 7, 1925, in Des Moines, Iowa. She graduated from Newton Senior High School and was united in marriage to Roy D. Cox on Feb. 16, 1944, in Missouri.
Marjorie worked for the Maytag Company, the Vernon Company and Newton Communications. She was a member of Eastern Star and the Newton Blue Jays CB Club, and she liked cardinals, sewing and embroidering, watching game shows, shopping at thrift stores and collecting stuffed animals. Marjorie lived in Newton until 1996, when she moved to Des Moines.
Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Pamela (John) Longnecker of Des Moines; two grandchildren, Melanie Edwards of Des Moines and Missy Smith of Des Moines; her great-granddaughter, Jamie (Daniel) Lechtenberger of Omaha, Neb.; and her great-great-grandson, Toby Lechtenberger of Carter Lake, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Roy.
