Christian M. House, 38, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., formerly of Colfax, Iowa, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011, at his home in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb, 19, 2011, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, at the funeral home. Memorials in Christian’s name may be left at the funeral home.
The son of Mike and Rosie (Coon) House, Christian was born May 15, 1972, in Maquoketa, Iowa. He grew up in Oxford Junction and Colfax and graduated from Colfax-Mingo High School in 1990. He had been residing in Myrtle Beach for the last 15 years.
Christian was a Coast Guard certified captain and navigated parasailing boats for Downwind Sails in Myrtle Beach, S.C. He loved all music, the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Chicago Cubs, the Green Bay Packers and was a talented self-taught musician. Christian had a love for anything outdoors: fishing, snorkeling, kayaking, camping and mushroom hunting. He also had a quick, bright smile and an infectious laugh which kept family and friends always entertained.
Christian is survived by his parents, Mike and Rosie House of Mingo; a brother, Dan House of Mingo; two sisters, Sarah House of Mingo and Mandi (Erik) Illingworth of Pella; his maternal grandmother, Marguerite Coon of Oxford Junction, Iowa; his paternal grandmother, Mary House of Oxford Junction, Iowa; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Paul House; his maternal grandfather, Monk Coon; an uncle, Bill House; and an aunt, Aliceann Coon.
