OBITUARY - Bessie Gardner, daughter of Archibald Gardner died at their home in Palo Alto township, on Thursday; June 9th, 1892, at 6 o'clock p.m., aged 24 years.

Bessie's sickness began with a severe attack of LaGrippe, which threw her into a general decline and resulted in death. She bore her sickness and suffering with fortitude and patience, and at last passed peacefully and calmly away. She was a gentle, amiable, unpretentious young woman, of exemplary conduct and character, and her death is deeply felt and mourned by her many friends.

The funeral services took place at the home, on Saturday afternoon, the Rev. David Brown, officiating; and a large concourse of friends and relatives followed the remains to the cemetery at Wild Cat Grove, to pay a lasting tribute of respect to a worthy young life and an estimable character.

The untiring kindness and sympathetic attentions of friends and neighbors during Bessie's entire illness and at the funeral are especially deserving of mention and cannot be too highly commended. ~ The Newton Journal, June 15, 1892.
