Justin Vander Schel, 30, of Newton died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at his home in rural Newton.
A funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 4, at Community Heights Alliance Church in Newton with Pastor Cory Stout officiating. The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Justin’s name may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home & Crematory or the church during the visitation or service.
The son of John and Virginia (Tindle) Vander Schel, Justin was born Jan. 24, 1981, in Des Moines, Iowa. He was a 1999 graduate of Newton Senior High School and a Dollars for Scholars scholarship winner. He then went on to graduate of Indian Hills Community College.
Justin was united in marriage to Mandy Lentzkow on Sept. 1, 2001, in Newton. He was self-employed and owned Van’s Construction and Van’s Lawn Care and Snow Removal. He also did auto mechanics and farming.
Justin attended Community Heights Alliance Church. He enjoyed anything with an engine: cars, snowmobiles and four-wheelers. He also liked to fish, hunt and spend time with his boys. Justin was a lifelong resident of Newton.
Justin is survived by his wife, Mandy Vander Schel of Newton; two sons, Gage Vander Schel and Kamden Vander Schel; a brother, Kenten (Sheila) Vander Schel of Kellogg; a sister, Jennifer (Terry) Beyer of Newton; his parents, John and Virginia Vander Schel of Newton; his nephews, A.J. Vander Schel, Sam Day, Mitch Day and Colton Beyer; his nieces, Afton Vander Schel and Jacey Beyer; his brother-in-law, Matthew Lentzkow of Waterloo; his sister-in-law, Breanna Jones of Waterloo; his father-in-law, Gary Lentzkow of Newton; and his mother-in-law, Pam Jones of Waterloo.
He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents and an aunt.
