Richard Andrew Murphy, 84, of Des Moines passed away Nov. 30, 2010, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Services will take place at a later date.
Richard was a World War II Navy Veteran and after his honorable discharge, he attended and graduated from the University of Illinois. On June 30, 1956 Richard married Mary Agnes Freyder and moved to Newton in 1958 where he was the manager of the Graphic Arts Department at the Vernon Company until his retirement.
He is survived by daughter, Mary Kathleen Fudge (Jonathan Fudge) of Urbandale; son, John Paul Murphy of Newton; and six loving grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Catholic Charities.
