BELOIT, Wis.—Elmer Louis Achtemeier, 91, of Caraville Retirement Home in Beloit, Wis., formerly of 904 S. 12th Ave. W., a resident of Newton from 1955 until moving to Caraville Retirement Home in July 1985, died Friday evening, Nov. 10, at the home of cardiac decompensation.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Newton United Presbyterian Church,

The Rev. Scott Coulter, pastor of the church, assisted by the Rev. Harold Den Hartog of Pella, retired pastor, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today.

Memorials to the United Presbyterian Church will be accepted.

Survivors are two sons, Louis of Beloit, Wis., and Darrell of Newton; five grandchildren, a step-grand-child, three great grandchildren; and a sister, Clara (Mrs. Albert) Bollhoefer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marie, July 21, 1987, three sisters and three brothers.

Mr. Achtemeier was a farm owner and operator for many years prior to his retirement.

He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, a former longtime member of the Zoar Reformed Church and was a charter member of the Mariposa Grange and Jasper County Farm Bureau.

The son of William and Minnie Propp Achtemeier, he was born Sept. 1, 1898 on a farm near Newton.

He was married to Marie Edith Bach Feb. 8, 1922 at the Zoar Reformed Church.
