George W. Bohne, 84, of 732 N. 2nd Ave. E., a resident of Newton since 1919, died Thursday evening at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First United Church of Christ, north church (Zoar), north of Newton.
The Rev. Richard Welch, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Zoar Cemetery.
Friends may call after 1 p.m. Saturday at the Toland–Wallace Funeral Home.
Visitation with the family will be held at the Marcus Schild home at 502 W. 16th St. N.
Memorial contributions to the Diabetic Foundation will be accepted. They may be left at the Toland–Wallace Funeral Home.
Survivors are his wife, Wilma; a daughter, Mrs. Marcus (Elenora) Schild of Newton; a grandson, John Schild of Earlham; and a great–granddaughter, Jessica Schild.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bertha Achtemeier, in 1955, a daughter, Ruth Ann, in 1930, a brother and three sisters.
Mr. Bohne was a member of the First United Church of Christ, north church, past commander of the Newton Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a member of the Modern Woodman Lodge for more than 60 years.
He was a retired carpenter and veteran of World War I, during which he served in the American Expeditionary Force in France.
The son of Fred and Helen Kolwey Bohne, he was born Feb. 22, 1893 at Meeme, Wis.
He was married to Wilma Irrgang Mar. 15, 1958 at Newton.
