MINGO - Funeral services for Denver Byal, 76, of Rt. 1, Mingo, a lifelong resident of Jasper County, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Wallace Funeral Home in Newton.
The Rev. Robert Hinshaw, pastor of Ashton Chapel, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Union Chapel Cemetery at Ira.
Masonic services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. today by Unit Lodge 520 AF and AM of Baxter at the Wallace Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions to the Ashton Chapel may be left at the funeral home.
Survivors are his wife, Sophie; a son, Blaine of Mingo; a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Linda) Poulson of Altoona; four grandchildren; and a sister, Ms. Marjorie Byal of Zearing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Roger and Stanley and one in infancy; and two sisters, Margaret Byal and Madge Phelan.
He died at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines Monday evening.
Mr. Byal, a farmer, was a member of the Ashton Chapel, Unit Lodge No. 520 AF and AM of Baxter and the Jasper County Farm Bureau.
The son of Henry and Martha Rippey Byal, he was born April 25, 1907 in Mingo.
He was married to Sophie E. Bohne March 10, 1940 in Marthasville, Mo.
