Wilma F. (Cooper) Stringer, 94, of Newton died on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at the Nelson Manor Nursing Home in Newton.
A funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials to Jasper County Elderly Nutrition (Congregate Meals) or to the Alzheimer’s Association – Greater Iowa Chapter may be left at the funeral home.
Wilma’s survivors include her three daughters, Sue (Ted) Patterson of Newton, Jeannie (Clarence) Hughes of Tempe, Ariz., and Peggy (Steve) Guthrie of Lone Tree; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; her brother, Hubert Cooper of Cheyenne, Wyo.; and her sister, Catherine McCoy of Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elvin “Mike” L. in 1989; grandson, Larry Patterson in 1995; and sister, Wanda Ver Schuur.

The daughter of Roy J. and Lulu (Ammer) Cooper, she was born December 5, 1916.
The six grandchildren who survive her are: Michael (Helene) Patterson, Darci (Mike) Fairchild, Brian (Jeanie) Patterson, Peggy Sue (Terry) Downs, Shon Guthrie and Jason Guthrie.
Wilma worked as the Head of House Keeping for the Terrace Inn in Newton for many years. Wilma enjoyed taking care of her family, she kept an immaculate home, she also enjoyed working in her yard. Interment at the Newton Union Cemetery in Newton.
