Joanne C. Shaw, 75, of Newton died on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at the Hospice of Jasper County Monarch Wing in Newton.
A funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials to the Believers In Grace Church or to Hospice of Jasper County may be left at the funeral home.
Joanne’s survivors include her husband, Pastor Robert Shaw of Newton; daughter, Lynette J. (Bruce W.) Doland of Newton; son, Marvin F. (Mary) Shaw of Newton; and her five grandchildren, Courtney, Brittany and Ashley Shaw and Benjamin and Lynae Doland.

Joanne C. Putnam was born September 13, 1935.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis D. and Adelia M. (King) Putnam; brother, Charles F. Putnam; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Joanne graduated from Marathon High School in Marathon, Iowa. She received her BA in Education from the University of Montana and then her MA in Education from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.
Joanne was a special education teacher, she taught in the Knoxville School system in Knoxville, Iowa. She had delivered the Des Moines Register for many years prior to leaving to go teach school in Knoxville.
Joanne was a member of the Believers In Grace Church. She enjoyed cooking and baking, Joanne enjoyed giving her baked goods to family and friends.
Interment: Immediately following the funeral service on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at the Newton Union Cemetery in Newton.
