F. Bayonne (Gildersleeve) Birkenholz, 85, of Boone, formerly of Newton, died on Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 15, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Newton Union Cemetery in Newton, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Marion St. United Methodist Church, Metz Church or Ames Hospice. Memorials may be left at the funeral home.
Survivors include her two sons, Wayne (Gloria) Birkenholz of Ankeny and Robert (Pam) Birkenholz of Dublin, Ohio; her two daughters, Judy (Dennis) Damman of Boone and Jan Gustoff of Ames; eight grandchildren, Kelly (Gary) Lane, Kyle Damman, Tracy (Leah) Gustoff, Amy Gustoff, Lance (Marisa) Birkenholz, Emilie (Bob) Heles, Todd (Robyn) Birkenholz and Reed (Shelly) Birkenholz; her 19 great-grandchildren, Kylie, Savanah, Brandon, Tyler, Zoeie, Sydneie, Adric, Ellijah, Vadie, Trevor, Reid, Sofia, Seth, Madison, Payton, Parker, Macy, McKenna and Drew; great-great-grandchild, Trinity; her brother, Delmar (Marie) Gildersleeve of Fennimore, Wis.; and her sister, Phyllis Smith of Grinnell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ola and Margaret (Mulbrook) Gildersleeve; husband, Hubert, in 2002; sister, Doris Arlene Gildersleeve, in infancy; and brother-in-law, Clinton Smith.

F. Bayonne (Gildersleeve) Birkenholz was born January 09, 1925 Bayonne was a graduate of Grinnell High School in 1942.
Bayonne was a member of the Metz Church, she attended the Marion St. United Methodist Church in Boone, and she was a member of the Sugar Grove Grange.
Bayonne loved and enjoyed being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and other needle work, gardening for her family and traveling.
