M. Margaret “Mickey” Humke, 89, of Newton died on Monday, Aug. 2, 2010, at the Hospice of Jasper County Monarch Wing in Newton.
A funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1115 S. Eighth Ave. E. in Newton. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. Memorials to the Autism Society of Iowa or to Hospice of Jasper County or to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church may be left at the funeral home or at the church on the morning of the service.
Survivors include her daughter, Sarah (Jim) Hickman of Newton; two grandchildren, Rachel (Bill) Henry of Pleasant Hill, Iowa, and Zach (Elizabeth) Hickman of Solon, Iowa; and her five great-grandchildren, Jason and Carson Henry and Joseph, Margaret “Maggie” and Benjamin Hickman; brother-in-law, Jim (Marilyn) Humke; and three sisters-in-law, Avril Humke, Lorraine Humke and Arlene Johnston.

M. Margaret “Mickey” Humke was born May 03, 1921.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Sarah (Marshall) Rooney and husband, Don in 1992.
Mickey served her country in the U. S. Navy during WW II. Mickey was a graduate of Mt. Mercy in 1939 and a graduate of Mercy in Dubuque in 1942.
Mickey was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Retired Nurse’s Association, Retired Teacher’s Association, Skiff Medical Center Auxiliary, and Aunt Sylvia’s Bridge Club. She enjoyed being with her family, playing bridge, traveling, reading, and listening to Irish music.
Interment: Immediately following the Funeral Mass on Saturday, August 07, 2010 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in rural Newton.
