KELLOGG MAN FOUND DEAD
Jefferson Koger, Civil War Veteran, Dies Suddenly Friday.
Jefferson Koger, prominent farmer and Civil War veteran, residing one mile west of Kellogg died suddenly Friday noon while getting ready to go to Kellogg on business. He had taken a horse out of the barn and tied the horse to a post when he dropped dead. Heart trouble is assigned as the cause of his death. He had not complained any of not feeling well and his death came as a great shock to the members of the family.
The funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon. Short services were held at the house. The body was then taken to the Baptist church at Rock Creek where services were held, conducted by Rev. Keeten of Grinnell. Interment was made in the Rock Creek cemetery.
Mr. Koger is survived by three sons, William, of Kellogg; C.A., Grinnell, and Lee, of Grinnell. One son died in infancy several years ago; seven daughters, Mrs. Savanah Knapson, Curwell, Nebr.; Mrs. Viola Hazlet, Caldwell, Texas; Mrs. Maggie Young, Grinnell; Miss Anna, Kellogg; two brothers, Elijah of Savage, Kentucky; William of Monticello, Kentucky; two sisters, Mrs. C.C. Lewelynn, Temple, Texas; Mrs. Sarah, Cleven, Monticello, Texas. Mrs. Knapson, of Curwell, Nebr. was the only relative from a distance, who was able to attend the funeral.
