Mrs. Rohranz Dies Today

Long-Time Jasper County Resident Dies at Killduff

KILLDUFF – Mrs. Mary Rohranz, 85, died at her home near Killduff at 12:25 o’clock this afternoon following an illness of the past two weeks.

Mrs. Rohranz, the former Mary Ramer, was born in Galesburg July 4, 1856, the daughter of Ferdinand and Phoebe Ramer.

Her parents, born in Germany, were married soon after they came to America and settled in Galesburg in 1855, where Mr. Ramer owned a blacksmith shop.

Mrs. Rohranz united with the Christian church at Galesburg at the age of 18.

She was united in marriage Oct. 20, 1881 to Albert Rohranz, and to this union two children were born. A son, Henry, preceded his mother in death in 1907.

The couple went to housekeeping on the farm where they spent their entire married life.

She was a member of the Daily News Three Quarter Century Club.

Immediate surviving relatives are her daughter, Mrs. Harry Fenner of near Killduff; Mr. Rohranz having preceded his wife in death in 1933.

Funeral arrangements have not been made at this time. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, Wednesday, May 13, 1942.
