Dennis L. Freestone, 65, of Colfax died Monday, July 19, 2010, in the Hospice of Jasper County Monarch Wing at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 24, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax with burial following at McKeever Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 23, at the church with the family present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Following visitation, there will be a vigil service at 8 p.m.
Memorials may be given to Alcoholics Anonymous, and online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.
The son of John Robert and Mary Agnes (Gibson) Freestone, Dennis Lee was born on Sept. 6, 1944. He was a graduate of Colfax High School. Denny was united in marriage with Cathy Webb on Nov. 22, 1969, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax. Denny enjoyed hunting, fishing, John Wayne movies and reflecting on all the good times he had. He was member of the National Riffle Association, Colfax Gun Club, Alcoholics Anonymous, Knights of Columbus and the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Cathy Freestone of Colfax; two daughters, Erika Freestone of Colfax and Amanda (Marc) Headington of Newton; four grandchildren, Jareth Barnes, Matthew Barnes, Nicholas Barnes and Abby Headington; and one sister, Phyllis Moffitt.
Denny was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, William Moffitt.
