Enoch Longren, 76, Dies Today of Heart Ailment

Enoch Longren, 76, a resident of Jasper County since coming from Sweden at the age of two, died early this morning at 4:40 North Second Ave. West. In failing health for several months, Mr. Longren's condition became worse Thursday. His death was discovered near 4 a.m. when a member of his family went to his room. Jasper county coroner, Ralph V. Toland, called to the home, attributed death to coronary throbosis. It was believed to have occured near 3:30.

The youngest and last surviving member of a family of six children. Mr. Longren would have observed his 77th birthday anniversary on Nov. 11. In 1889 he was united in marriage at Newton to Mary Benjamin who preceded him in death on July 9, 1936. Surviving are six children: Richard and Vern of Newton, Edith Faidley and Pearl Hummel of Colfax, William of Oak Park, Ill. and Edna Breckenridge of Mansfield, O.; twenty grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the Murdoch Funeral home Sunday at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Palo Alto cemetery

Rites Held for Enoch Longren Sunday Afternoon

The funeral services for Enoch Longren, a resident Sweden before coming to Jasper County at the age of two, were held at the Murdoch Funeral Home Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Clyde McDonald of Des Moines officiating. Mrs. Maurice Rogers sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Going Down the Valley" accompanied by Mrs. R.L. Jackson.

Those in charge of the flowers were Lillian Dockal, Mrs. Elton Jordon, and Mrs.Lottie Morelock. Pallbearers were George Pomeroy, Elton Jordon, Frank O'Roake, James O'Roake, John Snook and Harry Snook. Burial was in the Palo Alto Cemetery.

Mr. Longren, preceded in death by his wife July 9, 1936, is survivied by six children: Richard and Verne of Newton, Edith Faidley and Pearl Hummel of Colfax, William of Oak Park, Ill., and Edna Breckenridge of Mansfield, O.; Twenty grandchildren and seven great grandcildren.
