HOWARD PATTERSON

Howard V. Patterson, 83, of 2908 N. 4th Ave. E., a longtime resident of Newton, died Monday morning, Dec. 1, at the Skiff Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Luke United Methodist Church.

The Rev. Julia Poulsen, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Reese Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Surviving is a brother, Fred Patterson of Newton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Agnes, in 1978.

Mr. Patterson, a charter member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, was a member of the Jasper County Farm Bureau and a former longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Newton.

Mr. Patterson had been employed by the One Minute Washing Machine Co. in Newton and had been a janitor at the First United Methodist Church.

He was born May 2, 1903 on a farm northwest of Newton.

He was married to Agnes Manson May 3, 1924 in Grinnell.
