Funeral Services To Be Monday For 60-Year-Old Newton Man

John Robson, 60, who had been in failing health for five years and had suffered several strokes the past year, died this morning at 5:30 o'clock at the Skiff Memorial Hospital. He suffered a stroke about 9:30 o'clock Friday evening and entered the hospital shortly afterward.
Funeral services are to be conducted Monday afternoon at 2'oclock at the Morgan Funeral Home with interment following in the Newton Union Cemetery.

Born in England

Mr. Robson was born in England, Jan 19, 1881, and came to the United States when but 4 years of age. His parents came directly to Sigourney, Ia., and there he remained until a young man when he moved to Colfax.

He was wed to Martha Knapp on May 1, 1904, and for a number of years they lived in Colfax and then for 20 years lived on farms near Baxter and Laurel. They came to Newton in 1929 where he worked in the Maytag factory until five years ago.

Twelve children were born to this union of whom 11 survive. They are Joseph, Norman, Raymond, Wilbur, Elizabeth, Grace, Elmer, Howard, John, Mary and Martha Jane.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a sister and a son, Harvey, who died in 1926 at the age of 6 years.

Also surviving are his wife, a brother, Elmer Robson, and three sisters, Mrs. Frank Bissett, Mrs. Jennie Chew of Newton and Mrs. George Caldwell of Albert Lea, Minn. Sixteen grandchildren survive.

He was a member of the Methodist church.
