R. F. Randall Prairie City Editor Dies
Popular Jasper County Newspaperman Victim of Heart Attack Sat.
PRAIRIE CITY – Richard F. Randall, 57, for many years editor and publisher of the Prairie City News, died suddenly of a heart attack Saturday night at his home.
Services
Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon in the Christian church at two o’clock. Rev. Gayle Fischer will be in charge. Pallbearers will be Henry DeWit, Joseph McKlveen, D. C. Norris, Roy Schakel, Ernest Walters, and Richard D. Zaayer. Burial will be at Westview cemetery.
Mr. Randall was born Jan. 30, 1890 at Grinnell, the son of Frances M. and Lovina Rivers Randall. While attending school in Lynnville, he was employed as a typesetter at the Lynnville Star from 1902 until 1908.
In 1908, he went to work for the Prairie City News and in 1909 became foreman. From 1912 until 1915 he was a partner of his brother, William C. Randall. After 1915, he was owner of the paper.

Mr. Randall was an organizer of the Prairie City Commercial Club and the Prairie City Junior Band.
He married Bess Neilson Sept 7, 1916. Mrs. Randall and his brother, William C., both died in 1943.
He is survived by a brother, Arthur, and a sister, Mrs. Clifford Graves, both of Prairie City, and another sister, Mrs. George Shorter of Ames. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, date unknown, obit had handwritten 194_ at the bottom
