Sharon J. Johnson, 67, of Newton, died Saturday, May 22, in the Monarch Wing at the Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Source: Newton Daily News; Monday, May 24, 2010Sharon J. Johnson, 67, the daughter of Carl W. Bottenfield and Dorris Benjamin-Bottenfield-Storey, was born Nov. 2, 1942, in Newton, Iowa. She graduated from the Minnetonka High School in Excelsior, Minn., class of 1960. She then attended the Minneapolis Vocation Tech. School, where she received her L.P.N.
A longtime resident of the Newton area, Sharon had retired from nursing and home health aide. Sharon devoted her life to her family, friends and the Lord.
Sharon died Saturday evening, May 22, 2010, in the Monarch Wing at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. She was preceded in death by her father, Carl; her mother, Dorris; step-mother, Mary Bottenfield; and a son, David R. Johnson.
A memorial service for Sharon will be at Agnes Patterson Park in the Krumm building June 12 from noon to 3 p.m. Memorials in Sharon’s name can be left at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.pencefh.com.
Those left to honor Sharon’s memory include her children, Daniel R. Johnson, and his wife, Sarah A. Garrison-Johnson; Deena A. Johnson-Purvis and her husband, Larry Purvis, of Newton; Dian R. Johnson-Gross of Swan; and Dusty R. Johnson of Des Moines, Iowa. She also is survived by six grandchildren; a brother, David Carl Bottenfield; a step-sister Becky Ann Bottenfield-Carlson-Anderson of Minneapolis; a step-sister, Lillian Storey-Howell of California; and her many friends.
Sharon will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
