Pamela Jean Clements, 58, of Newton, Iowa, died on Sunday, May 9, 2010, in the Monarch Wing at Skiff Medical Center. A memorial service for Pam will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 15, at First Lutheran Church in Newton. A reception with family members will follow. There will be no visitation.
Pam was born on Feb. 4, 1952, in Rochester, Minn., the daughter of Glen and Corinne (Johnson) Gudmastad. She was united in marriage with Jim Clements in Minneapolis, Minn., on Dec. 7, 1991.
Pam graduated from high school in 1970 from Howard High School in South Dakota. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Metropolitan State University in Minneapolis in 1989. She later earned a master’s degree in gerontology from St. Cloud State University in 1992. After she married Jim, she joined the family business, Clements Associates Inc., in Newton. She also served as the volunteer coordinator for Hospice of Jasper County in Newton from 1999 to 2007, when she retired to provide childcare for her grandson.
Pam enjoyed participating in church activities, reading, camping, hiking, listening to jazz, playing piano and spending time with family and friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandson and volunteering at Bailey Park Elementary School in Grinnell.
Pam is survived by her husband, Jim; her stepson, Charles (Denise Lamphier) Clements of Grinnell, Iowa; a sister, Gail (Neil) Finsand of Lincoln, Neb.; a brother, David (Geri Sharpe) Gudmastad of Winona, Minn.; a grandson, Emory; two nephews, Chris and Mark Gudmastad; and five nieces, Jamie Gudmastad, Megan and Emily Sharpe and Kierst and Maren Finsand; two aunts, Geraldine Mandsager of Side Lake, Minn.; and Marlene Johnson of Madison, Minn. She was preceded in death by her parents.
