COLFAX – Raymond D. Bell, 75, of Colfax died Tuesday, April 23, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Colfax with Pastor Dan DuRocher officiating. Burial will be at the Colfax Cemetery. Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax is handling arrangements.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home where the family will be available from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to the First Baptist Church in Colfax.
The son of Ivan Howard and Elizabeth Pearl (Mohler) Bell, he was born Nov. 7, 1926, in Fairview Township in Jasper County. On February 15, 1948, he married Lillian Mae Evertsen in Marshalltown. He served in the United States Army during World War II, with tours in both the European and Pacific Theater. Mr. Bell was a lifelong member of Jasper County and worked for the Maytag Company for 32 years. He retired in 1986. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Colfax and the UAW Local 997. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
Survivors include his wife, four sons and three daughters-in-law, David, and Michael H. and Irma, Andrew and Sharon, and Mark and Denise, all of Colfax; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill of Gladbrook; and three sisters and one brother-in-law, Eunice Meador of Gladbrook, Grace Rexroat of Newton and Alyce and Gerald Heck of Pleasantville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, a great-granddaughter, a brother and a sister.
