Robinson, Irene – 1926-2010

Irene Frances Robinson, 83, of Magnolia, TX, formerly of Ira, Iowa, passed away April 22, 2010 at Tomball Regional Medical Center with her family by her side. Visitation will be April 30, 2010 from 5-8pm at the Fredregill Family Funeral Home in Baxter, Iowa. A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2010, at 2pm at the Union Chapel Cemetery, Ira, with Pastor Eugene Bryant officiating.
Irene was born December 4, 1926 to Wilbur and Christine (Allspach) Whitehead in Baxter, Iowa. Irene attended and graduated from Mingo High School in 1945. She met Phil Robinson on a blind date when Phil returned from serving in the Navy during World War ll. One month later, they married on March 16, 1946 in Des Moines and were married for 49 years. Irene was an astute business woman and entrepreneur before the age of working women. Irene owned and operated a Maytag sales and service company with her husband, Phil. She retired in 1984. She was a strong and diligent role model for many relatives and friends across the USA. Irene was an avid writer of letters and poems. She had close pen pals all over the nation that enjoyed her humorous prose with a little Ha!Ha! to brighten their day. Irene was a member of the Ira Christian Church and Oaks Christian Church in Houston, Texas. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all.
She is survived by her son, Mark (Carla) Robinson of Los Alamos, NM; two daughters, Marcia (Cameron) Giffen of Oriental, NC, and Michele (Damon) DiBassie of Magnolia, TX; three grandchildren, Zechariah (Samantha) Robinson of Jemez Springs, NM, Zoe Anna (George) Duran of Los Alamos, NM, and Emilynn Irene DiBassie (Granddaughter 11 Yrs); three great grandchildren, Aaron Robinson, Shiloh Duran, and Joshua Duran; and one sister, Shirley (Richard) Foley.
She was preceded in death by her husband Phil in 1995, daughter Claudia Robinson in 1946; brother Walter (Marge) Whitehead; and her parents.
Irene was a generous supporter of the Union Chapel Church and Cemetery and requested that all donations to go to: Union Chapel, c/o Russell Rippey, 6926 W. 88th St. N., Mingo, IA 50168.
Fredregill Family Funeral Home, of Baxter, has been entrusted with the care of Irene and her family.
