Van Wyk, Harold – 1925-2010

Harold Van Wyk, 84, of Sully passed away at the family farm Friday.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Sully First Reformed Church. Visitation will begin at noon today at the Sully Garden Chapel Funeral Home, with family present 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will take place at the Sully Cemetery.
Harold Van Wyk was born to John Will and Ella Wyngarden Van Wyk on Dec. 18, 1925, on the family farm near Sully, Iowa. He passed away Friday, April 16, 2010, on the family farm at the age of 84.
Harold graduated from Sully High School with the class of 1944. He spent his entire life farming.
On July 28, 1960, Harold was united in marriage with Sarah Jonella Van Zante at the Sully Christian Reformed Church. To this union three children were born, Marla, Joel and Jeffrey.
Harold was a member of the Sully First Reformed Church, where he served on the consistory as an elder and deacon. He was also a member of the Sully Telephone Board for over 30 years. Harold loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed farming and raising livestock.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of almost 50 years, Jonella; his three children and their families, Marla and Dan Nieuwsma, Eric, Katie and Brett of Oskaloosa, Joel and Heidi Van Wyk, Abby, Rachel and Jesse of Sully and Jeffrey and Deb Van Wyk, Courtney, Taylor and Brady of Sully; and his twin brother, Ralph Van Wyk of Oskaloosa.
Those who preceded him in death were his parents; his brother, Raymond Van Wyk; and two sisters, Iola Bartels and LaVerda De Nooy.
Harold was a loving father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.
Memorials may be given to the Sully First Reformed Church – Church Improvement Fund or the Bible League. The Pella Garden Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
