Constance L. “Connie” Smith, 61, of Newton died Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at the Hospice of Jasper County Monarch Wing at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends with a coffee time at the funeral home following the memorial service.

Constance L. Smith was born December 19, 1948.
Those left to honor Connie's memory include her son, Jay (Tammie) Smith of Prairie City; 4 grandchildren: Bo, Samantha, Jami, and Jace Smith of Prairie City; her sister, Vicky (Scott) Mulbrook of Newton; sister-in-law, Lisa Coonts of Newton; and 2 nephews: Brooks (Brandy) Boertje and their daughter, Taylor of Des Moines, and Brian (Shari) Boertje and their son Brett of Newton.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Willis G. and Arlene F. (Svejda) Coonts, and her brother, Michael Coonts.
Connie was a graduate of Manson High School in 1967. She had lived in Newton for 21 years. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her family, going out to eat, shopping, watching scary movies and sci-fi movies, being outside, and camping.
Memorials in Connie's name may be left at the funeral home.
