Paul L. Edwards, 77, of Tulsa, Okla., formerly of Kellogg, died Thursday, March 25, 2010, at the Comfort House in Pella.
A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 29, at the Kellogg Christian Church in Kellogg with the Rev. Douglas Hornok, pastor of the Redeemer Bible Church in Dallas, Texas, and the Rev. Wendy Todd, pastor of the Kellogg Christian Church, officiating. Interment will be at Westfield Cemetery near Grinnell with military honors and a Masonic service.
Visitation with the family present will be from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell.

Paul was born the son of Andrew Emmett Edwards and Theresa “Rose” Lauber on Oct. 12, 1932, in Kellogg, Iowa. He was raised in Kellogg and graduated from Kellogg High School in 1951. He honorably served in the United States Army from 1951 until 1955. Following his service, he attended Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa where he graduated in 1959.
On Sept. 5, 1954, he married Jo Ellen Jacobs at the Kellogg Christian Church in Kellogg, Iowa. They began their life together in Des Moines, Iowa, before moving to Fort Wayne, Ind., where they started their family. Paul worked for Skelly Oil Company and Skelgas Inc. until his retirement in 1993. He lived in Fort Wayne, Ind.; Indianapolis, Ind.; Chicago, Ill., and Tulsa, Okla.
Paul was a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge #59 in Newton, Iowa. He was a perfectionist who enjoyed home improvement projects, working in the yard, traveling, watching sports, especially the Chicago Cubs, playing cards with his friends and working on puzzles. He was also an active investor who enjoyed analyzing the stock market. Paul dearly loved his family and his pet dogs.
Paul is survived by his son, Thomas P. Edwards of Maplewood, N.J.; his daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jo and James M. Roy of Arlington, Va.; and his sisters, Colleen Spain of Newton, Iowa, and Dorothy Hubler of Lakewood, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jo Edwards, on Oct. 1, 2009; his brothers, Gerald, Donald and Everett; and infant sister Barbara.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Alan Keller and the team at Cancer Care Associates for their kind and loving care. The family also sincerely thanks the caring staff at the Comfort House, Hospice of Pella for their wonderful care.
