A funeral service for Ivan Huen, 85, of Colfax will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 27, 2010, at Pence-Reese Funeral Home of Newton. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the McKeever Cemetery near Colfax, Iowa.
The son of Edgar Franklin and Lizzie (Schwark) Huen, Ivan was born Oct. 15, 1924, in Eldora, Iowa. A longtime resident of the Eldora area, he graduated from Eldora, Class of 1942. He farmed for many years and was a machinist and factory worker at Ford, John Deere and then for the Maytag Company in Newton.
On Oct. 24, 1945, Ivan was united in marriage with Deloris Jean Roll in Marshalltown, Iowa. He and Deloris had lived in Eldora, State Center, Collins, Cedar Falls and Colfax. They owned The Pour Farm Buckle Shoppe and Clay Cellar Ceramics. Ivan devoted his life to his wife and family, was a builder at Trainland USA near Colfax and enjoyed his antique cars. He was a member of the Marshalltown Area Restorers Club, National Association Belt Buckles Club, Tucker Club and the Dodge Charger Club.
Ivan died Tuesday morning, March 23, 2010, in the Monarch Wing at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Deloris, on Aug. 28, 2006; a brother Lloyd Huen; sisters, Vera Dooley and Marion Smith; two brothers in infancy; and a grandson-in-law, Richard.
Those left to honor Ivan’s memory include his sons and daughters, Tesha “Tish” (Larry) Huffaker of Newton, Marvan (Pat) Huen, Marjean (Allen) Larrick, Everet Huen, Jeanise (Jack) Richeson and Sandra (Rick) Stanley; his 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; a sister, Thelma Klemenson of Mason City, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; and his many friends.
Memorials are being designated in Ivan’s name and may be left at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.pencefh.com.
