Ronald Joseph “Ron” Holdsworth died Feb. 28, 2010, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Ron was born Sept. 26, 1930, in Newton. He attended Newton Senior High School (Class of ‘48) and graduated from Iowa State University in 1952. He worked at Maytag before moving to Marshalltown in 1954 and worked at Lennox for the next 22 years. He returned to Newton to become factory manager at the Vernon Company in 1977.
In 1992, Ron moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where he married Carolyn Duncan, and became co-pastor with Carolyn at Granger Christian Church. Throughout his life, he volunteered his time and talents to his church, numerous service and charitable organizations and the communities in which he lived. He was a man of many hobbies and creative pursuits.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; daughter, Kathy of Grimes, Iowa; son Chuck (Alice) and grandson Greg (Andrea) of Minneapolis, Minn.; granddaughter Veronica and fiancee Michael Dammeyer of Plymouth, Minn.; Ramona Holdsworth, mother of Chuck and Kathy; cousins Jack Madin, Carol (Jim) Macksey and their children, Sarah and Paula, all of Newton; and cousin Judy Holdsworth of Scottsdale Ariz. Preceded in death by parents, H.J. (Joe) and Edna M. Holdsworth of Newton.
Memorial service will be Saturday, March 13, at noon (MST) at Granger Christian Church, 3232 West 4100 South, West Valley City, UT 84119. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ron Holdsworth memorial at Granger Church.
