Robert Lee DeWit, 86. of Prairie City, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010, at Knoxville Area Community Hospital.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be on Thursday, Feb. 18, at 11 a.m. at the Prairie City Methodist Church, with burial following at Waveland Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Central Iowa or The Prairie City Methodist Church Building Fund.

The son of John and Katherine (Nearmyer) DeWit, Bob was born on April 12, 1923 in Prairie City, Iowa. He graduated from Prairie City High School in 1941. On February 10, 1946, he was united in marriage to Nettie Helm in Newton. Bob was a member of the Prairie City United Methodist Church. He owned and operated the Please U Café with his wife until his retirement in 1983.
Those left to honor his memory; his wife Nettie; two daughters, Pam (Jim) Jennings of Kearney, Missouri and Robby (Frank) Evinger of Knoxville; four grandchildren, Staci (Kevin) Pratt, Jaime (Jeff) Fort, and Brad and Cody Evinger; and three great grandchildren, Emmalyn and Nathan Pratt and Ryan Fort. Preceding Bob in death were his parents, two sisters, Mildred and Thelma and a brother Donald.
