Martha Elnora McKinney, daughter of Gideon and Elizabeth McKinney was born in Jasper County, Feb. 16, 1885, and passed away at her home in Reasnor July 6, 1924, at the age of 39 years, 4 months and 20 days. November 21st, 1906 she was united in marriage to Arthur R. Simpson. To this union were born five children, Rex, Agnes, Opal, Hollis and Chester. Mrs. Simpson was a woman who took a great deal of pride in her children and was always anxious for their welfare.

Her last sickness began in November and though the months she has fought for life and hoped against hope.

Her father, one sister and one brother preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her going, her husband, five children ranging from 17 to 4 years of age, her mother, two brothers and three sisters, besides other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were conducted at the Reasnor M. E. Church, Tuesday, July 8, 1924, at 10:30 o’clock, by Rev. R. J. Arms. He used as the scripture lesson 1 Cor. 15:35. The quartet consisted of Messrs. George and Clarence Tool, Mrs. Guy Everett and Miss Ruby Martin with Miss Alta Spain at the piano, son, “Mother’s prayers have followed me.” There were many floral offerings which were very beautiful. A large crowd was at the church to offer their sympathy to the bereaved ones. ~ Newspaper unknown
