OLD RESIDENT OF LYNNVILLE DIES

Lynnville, Ia., Dec. 11, Special:

Abraham Burnham was born in Charleston, Lee county, Iowa, May 13, 1848, and departed this life Dec. 5, 1933, being at the time of his death aged 85 years, 6 months and 22 days. He was married to Margaret Northcutt, Feb. 10, 1867, who departed this life Oct. 10, 1907. To this union three children were born, Joseph of Lynnville, Meretha Kent of Oskaloosa, and Edith Hull of What Cheer.

In August 1928 he was united in marriage to Mary Jones, who with his children, grandchildren and many friends, is left to mourn his death.

He became a member of the Odd Fellows lodge Feb. 26, 1892. He was a member of the Masonic lodge and a charter member of the Fanny Taylor Rebekah lodge. He served his country during the Civil war, being a member of Co. D, 40th Iowa Volunteer Infantry. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church.

Funeral services were held from the Friends church, with Rev. Giles Youngquist in charge. Music was furnished by a mixed quartet composed of Mrs. Will Allee, Mrs. Harvey Gause, Charles Potter and A.T. Gifford, accompanied by Mrs. A.F. Quire. Songs were "The Old Rugged Cross," "When the Roll Is Called Up Yonder" and "Shall We Gather at the River?"

Pallbearers were George Sparks, Ed Sparks, Milt Sparks, W.P Sparks and William Burnham, all nephews of the deceased, and Everett Fenner, a grandson. Burial was in the Woodland cemetery in the family lot.
