Joanne Lois Tipton, 80, of Baxter passed away Jan. 22, 2010, at the Hospice of Jasper County Monarch Wing.
A visitation will be on Sunday, Jan. 24, at Bethany United Church of Christ in Baxter from 2 to 4 p.m. A funeral service will be on Monday, Jan. 25, at 10 a.m. the church. A private family burial will follow the funeral ceremony at Restland Cemetery in Baxter.
Joanne was born on Dec. 7, 1929, in rural Baxter to LeRoy and Clara (Traeger) Krampe. She attended and graduated from Baxter Community School in 1948. On Dec. 29, 1950, she married the love of her life, John “Dale” Tipton. They made their life together in Baxter and had three daughters. Joanne had a great passion for cooking, gardening and flower arranging, her church, volunteering, quilting, singing and traveling. She was a member at Bethany United Church of Christ, Marshalltown Arranger’s Guild, Baxter Garden Club and the Newton YMCA where she was a 100 mile swimmer. Dale and Joanne enjoyed spending time with one another while traveling. Together they visited all 50 states and traveled to all Canadian Provinces.
Those lef t to honor Joanne’s memory include her husband, Dale of Baxter; her daughters, Sally (Calvin) Anderson of Baxter, Christine Tipton of Baxter and Nancy (David) Taylor of Mt. Pleasant; four grandchildren, Robyn Anderson of Baxter, Renae Anderson of Wichita, Kan., Hannah Taylor of Mt. Pleasant and Joseph Taylor of Mt. Pleasant; five siblings, Edith (George) Allspach, Arthur (Vera) Krampe, Armin (Erika) Krampe, Alice (Gerald) Robinson and Marjorie (Edwin) Frohbieter; and one sister-in-law, Betty (Ted) Bodley; special friends, Egon (Toni) Rebmann of Ammerbuch, Germany; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother-in-law and sisterin- law. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Jasper County. Fredregill Family Funeral Home of Baxter has been entrusted with the care of Joanne and her family.
