Alice A. (Kloppenberg) Samuels, 97, of Newton died Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at her home in Newton.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 28, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery in Newton. Memorials in Alice’s name may be left at the funeral home.
The daughter of John H. and Rozina C. (Nason) Kloppenberg, Alice was born Aug. 29, 1912, in Marshall County, Iowa. On Nov. 8, 1930, she was united in marriage to Everett Samuels at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa.
Alice had lived in Newton since 1929. She was a homemaker and enjoyed flower gardening, sewing, cooking and playing Bingo.
Survivors include her daughter, Helen L. Townsend of Montezuma; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Ruby Davis of Newton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Everett, in 1988; her daughter, Alice Leota Hagan; two grandchildren, Catherine and Eugene Townsend; three brothers; and four sisters.
