Death of Mrs. Kinart

Mrs. Samuel Kinart died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Belle Shankland, near Mingo, on Tuesday morning, February 2nd, aged nearly 64 years. Mrs. Kinart had been in very poor health for some time, and a few months ago she went to the home of her daughter hoping that she might be bettered by the change, a hope however which was not realized. Her death was not unexpected. She and her husband had lived in Newton for several years, their home being on East Main Street, the beautiful property formerly owned by the late D. Sturdevant. She was a good Christian woman, very much devoted to her home, and was highly esteemed by all her neighbors and the circle of friends in which she moved.

Sarah C. Harris was born in Macon County, Missouri, June 24, 1845. She moved to Marion County, Iowa, 1865, and was married to Samuel Kinart December 21st, 1866. To this union were born seven children – Alfred U., of Payette, Idaho; James Franklin of Newton; John Alvis of Prairie City; William Arthur of Monroe; Mrs. Anna Hoxel of Monroe; Mrs. Ida Belle Shankland of Mingo; Mrs. Myrtle Dell Tool of Prairie City. She is also survived by two brothers and one sister: Charles W. Harris of Drexel, Missouri; William T. Harris of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Mrs. Martha A. Cooper Anita, Iowa. Mrs. Kinart had been a member of the M. E. Church for thirteen years.

The remains were taken to Monroe for interment, the funeral services being held on Friday, conducted by her pastor Rev. W. P. Stoddard the text, St. John 14th chapter, 1st, 2d and 3d verses. ~ Newspaper unknown.
