Death of Mrs. Cavell.

Mrs. Lucy Cavell, widow of the late W. B. Cavell, died at her home on North Scott Street, last Friday morning, February 18, (1909) after being an invalid for over fifteen years, her age being over 79. Mother Cavell was a native of Kent County, England, where she was born Sept. 27, 1830. She came with her parents to America in 1861. In 1847 she was united in marriage with Wm. B. Cavell. In 1877 they came to Newton where Mr. Cavell died eleven years ago. There were eleven children born to them, 7 of whom survive the mother: Frank Cavell, deputy county treasurer, Mrs. Leonard France and Miss Jessie reside in Newton; Harry Cavell at Laurel, Arthur Cavell in Arizona, Charles Cavell in Oregon and Mrs. Powers in Atkinson, Ill.

Mrs. Cavell had been a Methodist from girlhood and was an ideal Christian mother. During her long years of suffering she was tenderly care for by Miss Jessie, assisted by Frank and Mrs. France. Funeral services were held at the home, Monday afternoon, conducted by rev. W. H. Perdew assisted by Rev. A. B. Appleby. ~ Newspaper unknown.
