Mrs. Myrtle Nolin Hough

Passes Away After Many Months of Suffering from Cancer

Myrtle Nolin, daughter of George and Mary Nolin, was born near Monroe, Iowa, September 21, 1874, and departed this life August 8, 1913, at her home in Newton, Iowa, age 38 years, 10 months and 17 days.

February 7, 1900, she was united in marriage to Albert T. Hough, which union proved a very happy one. They have ever since lived in the vicinity of and in Newton with the exception of one winter, three years ago, spent in California, hoping thereby to improve her health.

In her early girlhood she was converted and united with the M. E. Church at Tool’s Chapel and has ever since remained a consistent member. She was a patient sufferer through a long period of illness, proving herself full of Christian grace, always being cheerful and looking on the bright side of life. For many months she had suffered from cancer, but the final cause of her death was a stroke of apoplexy. During her illness she was tenderly cared for by her companion and other relatives.

Myrtle was a faithful wife, a kind, along daughter and sister and a good neighbor. On being told that she couldn’t get well, she expressed herself as being willing and fully prepared to go.

Besides her husband, she leaves to mourn her loss, her aged mother, two sisters and six brothers – Mrs. J. W. McConeghey of Buffalo Center, Iowa; Mrs. John Wood and Messrs. Elzie, Cyrus and Albert Nolin of Monroe; Messrs. Ben, Harvey and Arthur Nolin. The mother lives with her eldest daughter in Buffalo Center. A wide circle of friends and neighbors join in the tenderest sympathy for Mr. Hough.

Funeral services were held at Mt. Zion M. E. Church, southeast of Newton, at 10 o’clock Sunday morning, August 10th, conducted by rev. Jesse A. Monkman. There was a large attendance and many beautiful flowers. The splendid sermon and beautiful music were very comforting to the sorrowing friends. The pallbearers were Messrs. Frank Forker, Karl parks, Cliff Newell, Bert Scarbrough, rest of the obit is cut off. ~ Newspaper unknown.
