Iowa City – Lisa Rae Putnam, 45, of Iowa City died Wednesday, May 12, at her home following a long illness.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Ushers Ferry Historical Village in Seminole Valley Park, Cedar Rapids. Officiating will be the Reverends David Raymond, Judy F. Gingerich and David Shaw. There will be no visitation. Her body has been cremated.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Heifer Project International, P.O. Box 8058, Little Rock, Ak. 72203-9475, or to the Hooved Animal Humane Society, Attn: Donna Ewing, National Headquarters, P.O. Box 400, Woodstock, Ill., 609098-0400. The George L. Gay Funeral Home and Crematorium of Iowa City is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Putnam was born Dec. 5, 1953 in Newton to Robert John and Beverly J. (Jack) Van Drimmelen. She graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1972 and earned her medial technology certificate from the University of Iowa in 1977. She worked as a medical microbiologist with University of Hospitals and Clinics from 1982 to 1999.
She married Richard Putnam on May 21, 1983, in Newton. Mrs. Putnam was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Newton. She enjoyed dancing, quilting, gardening and historical reenactments. She was a member of the “C” Company, 2nd U.S. Dragoons of Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin.

She is survived by her husband; parents; one sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and James Wooldridge of Cedar Rapids; one brother and sister-in-law, Ted and Deborah Van Drimmelen of Newton; five nephews and one niece.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
