Poweshiek Coroner Suffers Fatal Injuries In Auto-Truck Crash

Dr. J. Lea Taylor of Montezuma, coroner of Poweshiek county and a prominent physician in the county seat for the past 13 years, died at his home last Thursday night as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident the preceding Tuesday evening on Primary highway 63 five miles north of Montezuma.

Dr. Taylor was fatally injured in an accident involving his car and a truck driven by Russell Holcomb of Eldora.

According to Sheriff Fred Cochran's report, it was an extremely bad night for driving as sleet was falling and the visibility was poor.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Ross Funeral Home in Montezuma, with the burial in the cemetery at Monroe.
