Herbert S. Howard

Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon at the Morgan Funeral Home for Herbert S. Howard, 72 year old pattern maker of the Parson's company who died Tuesday morning in his apartment over the Marshall Hardware store.

The deceased was born April 30, 1867 in West Winfield, New York, coming to Jasper county in 1879 with his father, brother and sister. They settled on a farm ten miles north of Newton. In his early manhood he ran a threshing machine in the northwest part of the county later being employed in the Parson's Company.

He was united in marriage on June 6, 1907 to Ida Spencer. He is survived by the widow, three daughters, Edith C., Ida Madge, and Mrs. Reva Baty of Des Moines; a brother, H. Seymour Howard of Knoxville. He was preceded in death by one son and a sister, Mrs. L. N. Blackwell.
